UKWest Streaming Migration Aug 18, 2026 12:00-15:00 BST

Scheduled - We are migrating customers from our UK West A streaming region to the new UK West B streaming region, ahead of decommissioning UK West A.

As part of our continuous programme of improving and expanding our network, we have out-grown the available capacity at the datacentre which hosts the existing UK West A region. Furthermore, repeated network issues that began over the last few months causing a subset of customers to experience connectivity issues, have fed into our decision to relocate the streaming region to a new datacentre provider.

As such we will be migrating customers from the original UK West A to the new UK West B streaming region.

The new datacentre has significantly more network capacity, improved detection and mitigation of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) cyber-attacks, and is located significantly closer to key internet backbones, including the LINX peering centre at Telehouse West in London Docklands, where the majority of internet traffic in the United Kingdom crosses over between different Internet Service Providers.

During the maintenance window, there will be at least one encoder and at least one round of listener disconnects, as equipment and services are relocated to the new region.

Please note that listener statistics will be temporarily unavailable in the Broadcast.Radio Portal during the maintenance window, although listener data will still be collected as normal for future reporting (e.g. Total Listening Hours).

The migration will be carried out by the Broadcast Radio team and will not require any configuration changes or action from the point of view of stations. If you are not using the UK West A streaming region, this maintenance will have no impact to your streaming service.

This work will take place in 4 stages during the maintenance window. The maintenance window may be extended if required.

Myriad Cloud Dedicated - Power maintenance at The Media Site data center in Chorley Sep 27, 2026 09:00-17:00 BST

We have received the following critical maintenance notice from The Media Site, who in turn have received a works notice from the data centre that hosts many of The Media Site's customers. This does include some Myriad Cloud Dedicated customers as thes are hosted within that infrastructure.

This is for major planned maintenance power work at the end of September, hence the significant advanced notice.

The Media Site have raised serious operational concerns with the data centre about the duration of this electrical works, and the downtime that that will cause to stations hosted within that environment. They are continuing to actively work with the building's owners to find a resolution, so we expect to update this maintenance notice over the next few weeks as those conversations progress.

** Important steps: **

If your station is hosted on Myriad Cloud Dedicated then you should make sure that your streaming backup file is up to date via https://my.broadcast.radio/station/x/settings/streaming so that your radio station is able to continue playing out while this power maintenance is underway.

If you have migrated to Myriad Cloud Native then this work does not affect you.

This work does NOT affect Myriad Anywhere as this is hosted within Microsoft Azure.

As soon we have more information we will post an update to this announcement.

⚠️ IMPORTANT SERVICE NOTICE – CHORLEY VM CUSTOMERS
Sunday 27th September
We have been notified by Strawberry Fields Digital Hub of planned electrical works on Sunday 27th September between 9am and 5pm.
This ONLY affects Virtual Machines (VMs) hosted at our Chorley data centre.
Streaming platforms, websites, mobile apps and VMs hosted in London, Germany and Pittsburgh are unaffected and will continue to operate normally.
What is happening?
Power to the building needs to be isolated while a new generator changeover system is installed. We have been advised that the isolation is expected to last approximately 4 hours, although the exact duration cannot yet be guaranteed.
Our Chorley infrastructure has backup power. However, the building’s air conditioning and data centre cooling will not operate during the power isolation.
Without cooling, we cannot safely run the physical server hardware for an extended period. Unless an alternative can be agreed, we will therefore have to carry out a controlled shutdown of the Chorley VM infrastructure.
What should Chorley VM customers do?
If your VM is responsible for your station’s audio playout or transmission, please start planning an alternative for this period now.
Your streaming service itself will remain online, so stations can play audio directly into their streaming platform, bypassing the Chorley VM.
Alternatively, you should consider arranging temporary or alternative transmission/playout for the maintenance period.
What are we doing about it?
We are genuinely sorry that we have to give customers this notice.
This maintenance and the decision to isolate power to the building are outside of our control.
We are continuing to push back on the proposed arrangements and are actively working with the building to find a way of mitigating or avoiding the outage to our infrastructure.
We have explored every practical mitigation route available to us so far and will continue doing so right up until the maintenance takes place.
However, ultimately, the building’s electrical supply and cooling infrastructure are not within our control, and we cannot prevent the building operator from carrying out essential electrical work.
If we can find a safe way of keeping the Chorley infrastructure operating, we absolutely will.
Sunday 27th September
Maintenance window: 9:00am–5:00pm
Current estimated power isolation: approximately 4 hours
We will provide further updates as soon as we receive more information.
For now, we strongly recommend that affected Chorley VM customers make contingency plans for their station’s playout during this period.

Completed - The scheduled maintenance has been completed.
Aug 6, 00:01 BST
In progress - Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
Aug 5, 22:01 BST
Scheduled - If your streaming service is using the UK South or UK West (B) networks, there will be no impact to you.

We've been informed by the datacentre operator of the UK West (A) streaming cluster (IONOS) that they are undertaking some immediate emergency maintenance to networking equipment. This has been communicated to us as a 3 hour window from 9PM BST on Wednesday 5th August to 00:00 BST on Thursday 6th August. We apologise for the late notice of this unplanned maintenance event, we have only received this communication within the last 30 minutes.

During this period, streaming customers using the UK West (A) cluster as their ingest point, may experience a brief intermittent loss of connectivity. This network disruption is anticipated to last no more than a few seconds, but may last up to 10 minutes if further issues arise at the datacentre.

After the maintenance window, ifyour stream is offline, please first attempt to restart your encoder software. Our telephone emergency/out-of-hours support service is available as usual during this period, but we strongly encourage customers to carry out the aforementioned steps (as well as steps included within your Service Level Agreement/SLA) to avoid any unnecessary out-of-hours charges.

We will post any updates to our status page if necessary, and as they are communicated to us.

This maintenance has no other impact. If your streaming service is using the UK South or UK West (B) network, there will be no impact and you can safely disregard this notice.
